Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

The Brand Show meantObjects-in-mirror-are-close.jpg a road trip for Matt and I in the beginning of December. We planned a long weekend down in L.A., to go to the reception for the show, and hang with our friend Michelle, who we met surfing in Costa Rica.

L.A. is a six hour trip in the car, Matt was armed with an Ipod playlist, and I was armed with books and my trusty digital camera. As I had mentioned before, I like to take pictures from the car. You never know how they will turn out. Admittedly most are no good, but there are always gems in the midst.

Here are a few of the keepers dated 12/2006.   The ones that I won't show here are waiting to be made into something, a collage, a watercolor, who knows.. these are the ones that can stand on their own.

I love the graininess of this photo.  Even though the windmills are from present day, the photo reminds me for some reason of the Grapes of Wrath.

Speaking of which, check out the photos of Dorothea Lange- see the reference section for the link to Wikipedia.  I wish I had her ability.  Her photographs are visually arresting.

 This image is titled Scarred.

This was surprising to see on our trip.  Someone had mowed and burned this into their field.  I wish I was able to capture the whole image.  Right now it is "Esus Saves."

Here are the windmills again.  I love the curve of the hills in this picture.  It looks like a woman's hip.

Here are more rolling hills.  These are what makes California so beautiful.  In spring they are green and perfect.
