Transition.

The early years in California were a bit bumpy. I struggled to settle into my new surroundings, to learn how to slow down and get used to the new pace.  I loved California, but missed my friends, and the vast array of food  delivery options that New York offered.  I missed walking everywhere.  Californians hike.  New Yorkers walk and window shop It was definitely an adjustment.

In order to develop community, I joined a Success Team, and surrounded myself with smart and clever people.  I decided that I would really pursue creating art.  I wanted to create a new body of work with the goal of getting it shown.  It was definitely time to step away from "craft" and return to "art."  In order to achieve this goal I started to work with a coach.

Having a life coach sounds very Californian and very "crystal huggy."  But don't knock it until you try it.  Having someone  in your court cheering you on and kicking you in the butt when you need it, who is not your spouse or significant other, is a great resource.  Having to be accountable to someone on a weekly basis is a pretty powerful motivator... at least for me.  Working with  Susan (see reference section) helped me to accomplish the following, accepting a new position, having the opening for a group show that I was in, and selling the piece in that show.  These were my goals, and all of which were realized and occured within the same week.  But more about that later.

I didn't really get back on track with being serious about my artwork until 2006, and creatively it was a pretty good year.
