Collaboration
Towards the end of my ten year period in New York, I started to move away from my chair series. All in all I generated 30 or so chairs. Many which are shown in the gallery section of this site. The rest of the collection was either gifted away or sold, many didn't survive the trip west to California. There were plenty of casualties.
In absence of chairmaking, I continued my collaboration with my photographer friend Spencer, on several more projects. One of which was submission of an entry for a competition. This competition was hosted by Pellegrino and we did a fashion shoot using their product. I designed & created my last piece of apparel for this entry.
This strapless dress was made out of charmeuse. Not knowing the size of the model who would end up wearing it, I made it adjustable in size with lacing up the back. The over piece was made from wire, looped and swirled like lace. This wire bodice covered her upper torso and extended down into a "metal train." It took me forever to make it, paint it (spray painted silver) and to hand bead it with Swarovski crystals.
